Hello and Happy Thanksgiving from your Lake Jennings!

I hope you all had a safe and Happy Thanksgiving and had a chance to visit the lake and campground. Both had a nice attendance over the past week. If you want to have a site at the campground next Thanksgiving or for that matter any upcoming holiday, please make your reservation as soon as possible. We had so many calls for an opening this past week, and it's no fun telling you that we're all booked.

Lake Jennings is quickly becoming the place to be and was recently voted on SDFish.com as the #2 best trout fishing lake in the County. The best bite without a doubt was fishing for the trout. The Sierra Bows and Nebraska Tailwalkers are working out just as planned, providing a good opportunity to land a nice trout from both shore and boat. Don't forget that if you catch a tagged trout bring it to the Bait & Tackle shop. Turner's Outdoorsman is giving out some very nice prizes for the trout season. Line up early whether you're coming out on Friday, Saturday or Sunday and watch for the extended days of operation during the holiday breaks. If you want to target the trout in the coves you need to be here at opening or the end of the day fishing with mini jigs. For those who enjoy it a bit more relaxed, the bite does continue throughout the day. We're happy to share some quick pointers with you, but we need to keep the lines moving. I recommend attending the Saturday Fishing University at 10:00 am which is held outside the Bait & Tackle shop. There we can give you the time you need for a hands on class and answer all your questions. Another way to get information is to sign up for the weekly Fishermen's News since some of you may be reading this online or at one of the local Bait & Tackle shops.

Bass fishing is a close second with a very good bite. Your best bet is to work your way around the lake and during this time of year try using a quality swimbait for the larger bass or a drop shot for those a bit smaller. Keep in mind that you might pick up a catfish or redear which seem to be looking for anything they can get.

Next are the Redears, also providing a real good bite during the last few hours the lake is open. I've seen several being caught in the 1 to 1 1⁄2 pound range.

Last are the catfish which are working hard for a bite to eat, so no matter what you are fishing for you may end up with an aggressive cat to add to the mix. All in all, don't miss out on the hot bite that's going on this time of year. Please stop by the Bait & Tackle Shop and report your catch, and if you need some fishing advice ask a friendly ranger.

They may show up, but if you're not following you'll just be reading about it after they're gone. The "Catch of the Week" goes out to:
Jose Castro of San Diego landed a nice 8 pound Nebraska Tailwalker using a Chrome and Blue Kastmaster. Jose also caught a Sierra Bow using a White Mini Jig with a White Curly Tail. All trout came from Cloister Cove.

Alfred Shammas of El Cajon caught a nice Sierra Bow using the same style White Mini Jig at Cloister Cove.

Greg Melcher of Jamul pulled in a trout limit with a total weight of 23 pounds. Way to go Greg, that's a catch to be proud of! Greg caught a mix of Sierra Bows and Nebraska Tailwalkers using Chartreuse PowerBait fishing at Shadow Cove.

David Acevedo Jr., a 13 year old from Rancho San Diego caught a nice 7 1⁄2 pound Sierra Bow using a Roostertail fishing Siesta Point.

Gary Nicholas and James Grugy of Lemon Grove both had trout limits of Sierra Bows and Nebraska Tailwalkers with a total weight of 27 pounds. These two were using PowerBait fishing at Shadow Cove.

Jonathan Rodriguez of San Diego caught a trout limit with the largest one a Nebraska Tailwalker weighing in at 8 pounds 8 ounces. Jonathan was using a Nightcrawler fishing at Cactus Patch.

Timothy Sokamnouy, a 13 year old from San Diego caught an 8 pound Nebraska Tailwalker using a Green and White Mini Jig fishing back at Hermit Cove.

Matt of El Cajon caught nice Sierra Bow using a worm with garlic PowerBait fishing at Half Moon Cove. Bud Murray with his grandkids caught 3 Sierra Bows and 1 Nebraska Tailwalker with a total weight of 6 pounds using Nightcrawlers fishing at Cactus Patch buoyline.

Jim Lepisto of Mission Beach caught a lucky 2 pound "Tagged" Nebraska Tailwalker using a Roostertail fishing at Hermit Cove buoyline.


What's New:
Lake Jennings has so far stocked 5,000 pounds of Nebraska Tailwalkers and Sierra Bows just in the last couple of weeks. Get ready for 1,200 pounds of Nebraska Tailwalkers coming in the week of December 3rd giving a total of 6,200 pounds. Not too bad for 3 weeks of Trout Season and lots more to come.
