Hello from Your Lake Jennings: It is August and the catching shows it. The bass average is 1 to 2 fish. The most consistent action is early and late on the bank. This morning bass were busting the surface in Eagle Cove and taking Kastmasters. The cats are being caught by boaters fishing deep. The catch rate is also 1 to 2 per rod if you are in a boat.

Best cat spots: The buoy lines, down the middle of Half Moon Cove and the East site of Half Moon

Best cat bait: Bring mackerel and night crawlers. Fish shallow near vegetation.

Best Bass Spots: Dusk on the bank, daytime bass are stacked up in 25 to 50 ft. of water on Sentry Point.

Best Bass Lures /bait: Frogs, chug bugs, Bass Assassins, shiners and pink worms.

Water Temp: 80 degrees

Notables: Personal best. Sat., Donovan Mattia, age 15, Spring Valley, 5-0 largemouth, 7" Roboworm, Hermit Cove. Sat., Aaron McCranie, El Cajon, 2-12 pacu, Cloister Cove, nightcrawlers.

Prognosis: We have had our last catfish plant of the season. Typically they are tougher to locate because they are in deeper water beyond shore anglers casting distance. We are seeing more bass activity but topwater is a lucky strike at best. We will be open on Labor Day

Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will talk about fishing catfish. 1PM Sunday.
