Hello from Your Lake Jennings:

The catfish migration to deeper water continues with the success gap moving more in favor of boaters. The buoy lines and down the middle of Half Moon Cove are the best from a boat. The east side of Half Moon Cove was the best shore spot. The topwater bite takes some work but is producing fish along the bank and in Shadow Cove. The flat on the west side of Sentry is the dropshot and Ika spot. Early morning and dusk are finding fish right on the bank. It is critical to pull your plastic off the dry into the wet. If you are 2 ft. from shore you throw behind the bass and spook them.

Best cat spots: The buoy lines, down the middle of Half Moon Cove and the East site of Half Moon

Best cat bait: Bring mackerel and night crawlers. Fish shallow near vegetation.

Best Bass Spots: Dusk on the bank, daytime bass are stacked up in 25 ft. of water on Sentry Point.

Best Bass Lures /bait: Frogs, chug bugs, Bass Assassins, shiners and pink worms.

Water Temp: 80 degrees

Notables: No fish weighed in over 3 lbs.

Prognosis: Next catfish stock is Wed. August 15th. The summer doldrums will match nice night fishing conditions with the occasional catfish bite. Bass prime times are 5:30 AM until about 9AM and 7 PM until about 10 PM.

Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will talk about fishing catfish. 1PM Sunday.

Hello from your Lake Jennings! A decent top water / Bass Assassin bite against the bank continues early and late. In the middle of the day "fugetaboutit." The catfish plant did nothing to spark a bite. They are now showing up deeper. Boaters are doing better than bankies by fishing the lake channels and drop offs. The coves and the flooded brush are much less productive than they were 2 weeks ago. A few anglers cruising the banks in boats...... Read More
