Park hours:6:00 A.M. - 7:30 P.M. Open seven days a week
Dock closes: 7:00 P.M.
Last Plant:1,500 lbs of Rainbow Trout Wednesday April 27th.
Water temperature: At surface 67.82 f., 7.61 D.O. @ 20' 64.76 f., 3.21 D.O.
Water level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.

In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

With the last plant ten days behind us the trout fishing is on the decline. Warming water temperatures have pushed the trout into the deeper areas of the lake. For better results travel westward toward the buoys. The best baits have been powerbait and/or powerworms, greens or yellows are the most popular colors, or inflated nightcrawlers.

The bass are continuing to bite. Frank Duenas of Escondido weighed in a 7.35# fish he caught on Saturday using a worm off senior shoreline. Bass are most often found near structure and are fond of crawdads and dark colored plastics.

Crappie are still being caught primarily in the early mornings, when they can be found feeding on shad. Jerry Harris of Riverside weighed in a 1#60 Crappie on Tuesday caught in Boat Dock Cove on a shiner. Crappie are most frequently caught using small jigs or live golden shiners.

Catfish fishing is picking up with the warmer weather. Jesse Tran of San Diego caught a 4.10# channel cat on Sunday on a nightcrawler at Bass Point. LakeWohlford catfish prefer cut mackerel or chicken liver. Still no date on the first catfish plant.

Each month Whopper Contest winners in 4 categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. For further information on the contest or fishing conditions, please contact the Ranger Station at (760) 839-4346.
