Hello from Your Lake Jennings. Chicken livers are still the preferred bait with other morsels a distant second. Coves are still the best but good catches in deeper water are also starting to happen.

Best Cat Spots: Eagle, Cloister and Hermit Coves.
Best Cat Bait: Chicken livers or nightcrawlers. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: 25 ft on all the points.
Best Bass Lures /bait: mudsuckers and d/s 4" morning dawn worms.
Water Temp.: 78 degrees on surface.
Notables: Fri., Juan Herrera, El Cajon, 14-2 channel cat, Cloister Cove, mackerel.

Prognosis: This week's forecast is for more HOT weather. Mid-90's all week I think that the fishing will act accordingly. There is a reason why bass, sunfish and cats are called " warmwater fish." Lake Jennings Campground now has WiFi at every campsite.

The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching catfishing every Sunday at 1 PM For more details, you can call Hugh Marx at (619) 390-1300 or visit www.lakejennings.org

All the other fishing also picked up but you cannot call it anything other than OK. Some bass anglers were blaming the poor fishing on the earthquakes. Yet slowly dragging tubes in 25 ft. water had one angler jumping for joy. So much for the earthquake...... Read More

The catfishing fireworks this weekend fizzled. For that matter so did all the other fishing. Seemingly the bass, red ears and cats left the lake and were on holiday. We don't think that dynamite would have helped. Some bass anglers are blaming the poor fishing on the earthquakes. Best Cat Spots: Eagle, Cloister and Hermit Coves.
