The catfishing fireworks this weekend fizzled. For that matter so did all the other fishing. Seemingly the bass, red ears and cats left the lake and were on holiday. We don't think that dynamite would have helped. Some bass anglers are blaming the poor fishing on the earthquakes.

Best Cat Spots: Eagle, Cloister and Hermit Coves.
Best Cat Bait: Chicken livers or nightcrawlers. Use scent liberally
Best Bass Spots: 25 ft on all the points.
Best Bass Lures /bait: mudsuckers and d/s 4" morning dawn worms.
Water Temp.: 76 degrees on surface.

John Visser, grandson Jake Alirez and Lemon Grove catched 10 cats within 3o mins. last Friday and less than an hour last Saturday at Hermit Cove Buoyline. The lake is unseasonally cool. If we get some hot weather to warm up the lake I think that the fishing will act accordingly. Lake Jennings Free Fishing University is conducting catfishing lessons every Sunday at 1 p.m. You can call Hugh Marx at (619) 390-1300 or visit www.lakejennings.org for more info. Lake Jennings Campground now has WiFi at every campsite.

Hello from Your Lake Jennings: If this report seems familiar, it is. A bad back prohibits me from sitting to long. There really have not been any changes except for 2 notables whose names should be familiar. They have a pattern that continues to produce for them. Catfishing is the best bet. Finally some topwater action for the bass very early and just about dark in the backs of the coves. First angler in gets the bites. 1 or 2 per cove. A frog on the mats and over the downed trees. Best Cat Spots: Siesta, Half Moon & Hermit Coves. ...... Read More
