Hello from your Lake Jennings. This week's cat bite was slower than last week. The cats are moving to deeper water so boats are a better bet. Target the channels using our topo map by Jim Putney for the best spots. The bass continue to be difficult.

Best Catfish Spots: Eagle, Cloister, and Hermit Coves.

Best Catfish Bait: Chicken livers, shrimp, hot dogs or nightcrawlers. Use scent liberally.

Best Bass Spots: 25 ft on all the points.

Best Bass Lures/Bait: # 13 Rapalas, Zara Spooks and d/s 4" morning dawn worms.

Notables: Fri. and Sat., John Visser, Jake Alirez, Melody Noble, Lemon Grove, 15 cats, largest 8-4, chicken livers and Secret 7, Cloister Cove.

Prognosis: The cats are definitely moving deeper. Boaters and those bankies who can cast a country mile will have the best success! There are only a few weeks left for night fishing. Our last weekend is Labor Day weekend. We will be open Labor Day from 5:30 AM to 8:30 PM.

Water Temperature: 78 degrees on surface.

Current Schedule: Fri. @ 5:00 PM closes for fishing at 12:00AM, Sat. @ 5:30 AM closes for fishing at 12:00 AM, Sun. @ 5:30 AM closes for fishing at 8:30 PM, Night fishing every Friday and Saturday until Labor Day.

Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a free fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about catfishing. Lake Jennings Campground now has WiFi at every campsite. Plan your next outing at Lake Jennings. Visit us online at www.lakejennings.org or call 619.390.1300.

Catfish Stocking Schedule (1000 lbs each): Week of July 26th and Week of August 11th

Catfishing picked up this weekend. A few limits came out but it was mostly 1's 2's and 3's. Mackerel has been ok but the "go to " bait has been chicken livers. All the other fishing also picked up but you cannot call it anything other than OK. Some bass anglers were blaming the poor fishing on the earthquakes. Yet slowly dragging tubes in 25 ft. water had one angler jumping for joy. So much for the earthquake...... Read More
