Stocking: The trout plant that was scheduled for last week was delayed. The next trout stocking will be the week of January 23rd where another 1,500 pounds will go into the lake. So far, 8,000 pounds of Rainbow Trout have been stocked this season!

What's the catch?  Cool, cloudy days provide protection from the sun and the rainbows will be more active as a result. This weekend was no exception! We had reports of catches from the campground shoreline, Hermit Cove, big rock, and Siesta Cove. Rain increases the oxygen levels in the water making the trout more active. The rangers didn't see any big schools, but the trout were sprinkled throughout the lake. Mini jigs, powerbait, nightcrawlers were the winners. Fishermen were pulling boatloads of catfish last weekend. Bait your hook with mackerel or chicken liver and drop it in the channels of the coves for catfish.

Conditions: The water temperature around the boat dock is 60 degrees. The sun is rising at 6:51 a.m. and setting at 4:58 p.m. New moon is on January 21st and the lake will be open until 10:00 p.m. Should be nice and dark  for fishing! For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
