Hello from Your Lake Jennings: Catfishing Saturday had 2 stories. If you fished from shore you most likely had an empty stringer when you went home. If you fished from a boat at the main buoyline you took home limits of 1 to 3 lb. fish. Mackeral and worms worked equally well. The Bass continue to be difficult. The lake drop has been suspended for 2 weeks resulting in few fish being caught on creature baits. Topwater baits aren't working when tossed at boiling bass. Rapalas, TD Minnows and spoons are.

Best Cat Spots: The dam buoyline and Hermit Cove buoyline.
Best Cat Bait: Mackeral and night crawlers. Use scent liberally.

Best Bass Spots: They are suspended all over the lake at 30 to 50 ft. of water.
Best Bass Lures /bait: Rapalas, TD minnows

Water Temp. 79 degrees on surface.

Notables: No fish over 3 lbs. or limits under 1 hour reported

Prognosis: History tells us that the cat bite deep remains good thru November but in most cases boats are best. We are bringing back our twilight boat rentals. Motorboats are $ 20.00 for the last 3 hours that we are open. So you can get a boat at 4 PM for $ 20.00. The question of the week is are the bass ever going to develop the Fall bite? We are only a month away from the start of our trout season. Mt Lassen has developed a new strain of rainbow trout that they are calling the "Sierra Bow".
