Hello from Your Lake Jennings: Our first weekend of our regular  ? hr before sunrise to  ? hr after sunset flopped more than the few catfish that were caught. Bass fishing was not much better. The cats have moved to deeper water. If you were not fishing in 50 ft. of water you did not catch cats. The bass are still suspended. Very spotty surface activity. Leadcore trolling also very spotty and plastic dragged along the bottom even less productive. There is a brighter future. We have started our drawdown and that always triggers a creature and jig bite as it leaves crawdads high and dry. This puts the crawdads on the move and surprisingly ( not really) the bass notice.

Best Cat Spots: The dam buoyline and Hermit Cove buoyline.
Best Cat Bait: Mackeral and Night crawlers. Use scent liberally.

Best Bass Spots: They are suspended all over the lake at 30 to 50 ft. of water.
Best Bass Lures /bait: Swimming a jig or leadcore trolling are the best bets for targeting those fish.

Water Temp. 80 degrees on surface.

Notables: No fish over 3 lbs. or limits under 1 hour reported

Prognosis: Same as last week!!!! Remember that our night fishing is done until next season. Our trout season will begin as soon as the water temp is below 74 degrees. Historically that is the 3rd week of October. Mt. Lassen has a new rainbow trout called the " Sierra Bow." It has tasty pink flesh and based upon testing is more catchable and acrobatic. In the meantime we'll expect the cat bite to improve based upon past history. Now that we are dropping the lake the bass WILL get their act together.

The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching cat fishing......

Hello from your Lake Jennings! Our last night of cat fishing was just hit or miss. Some boaters fishing deep hammered them and others could not buy a bite. Bankies had even less success. There was some brief top water action in Sentry Cove this morning so maybe the bass bite is going to heat up. Best Catfish Spots: The dam buoyline and Hermit Cove bouyline. Best Catfish Bait: Mackerel and night crawlers. Use scent liberally. Best Bass Spots: They are suspended all over the lake...... Read More
