In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and private equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment now includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contact the water.

Trout fishing is good with some nice-sized Trout being caught in Boat Dock Cove and along Senior Shoreline. There is only one more Trout plant scheduled for this season, so fish them while you can. Efrain Lopez of Escondido caught the largest Trout of the past week, weighing in at 4#8. It was caught on orange power bait west of Senior Shoreline. Cliff Chambers of Escondido caught a 4#4 Trout in the same area on an inflated nightcrawler. Jerry Harris of Riverside landed a 4#2 Trout in Boat Dock Cove on a shiner and eight-year-old Christian Hosley of Escondido brought in a 4#0 Trout on orange Zeek's glitter bait on Senior Shoreline.

The Bass fishing is improving with mostly smaller males, mixed in with an occasional larger female, being caught in the early mornings and late afternoon. On Wednesday, Roy Hammond of Escondido caught and released an 8#4 Bass west of Senior Shoreline using a senko lure.

Crappie can now be found around submerged willows, but the water level is expected to drop rapidly the next 10 days due to aqueduct maintenance. Lee Doss of San Diego caught 20 in Boat Dock Cove on Friday using shiners, with his largest weighing in at 2#6. They respond well to finger jigs and live golden shiners. Catfish are starting to bite as the weather warms up. They prefer cut mackerel or chicken liver and are easiest to find at either buoy line. Carp are increasingly being caught usually on dough bait. Stop by the Ranger Station for a (dough bait) recipe that works well on either Catfish or Carp.
