Hello from Lake Jennings! There was a very good cat bite during our night fishing if you were fishing from a boat. Shore anglers did not fair as well. Bass action improved. Dropshotting plastics off the fishing float. The top water action isn't. Best bet for bass is drifting shiners deep. Wax worms are catching lots of small red ears for the kids in the backs of the coves.

Best Trout Spots: None
Best Trout Lures/Bait: None
Best Catfish Spots: Both the dam and the Hermit Cove buoy lines. Also the backs of the coves and anywhere there is brush.
Best Catfish Bait: Shrimp or mackerel. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: Dawn and dusk tight on the bank. Daylight finds them in 20 to 30 ft. off the points chasing shad.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Buzzbaits produced a couple of nice fish but it is still mostly drop-shotted worms. Notables: Fri., Matt Ryan, Descanso, 16-0 & 8-12 channel cats, mackerel, buoyline.
Prognosis: We will stock 1000 lbs. again on August 14th. Cats are best fished from a boat and fished deep. If you want a mixed bag of bass and cats use shiners!!!!
Water Temperature: 77-79 degrees.

Discounted Sunday Boat Rental: We have a twilight special for our motorboats. After 4:00PM on Sundays, motorboats can be rented for $20.00. That gives you over 4 hours of primetime fishing.

FREE Fishing Classes Open to the Public!
Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about fishing cats. Most importantly, the classes are FREE! Ranger Hugh will be the professor.
