Hello from your Lake Jennings!
Three weeks and counting until Lake Jennings starts the 2014-15 trout season, which will begin with a stocking of 4,000 pounds, our largest stocking to date. This stocking will include the two most popular trout being stocked in California, the Sierra Bows and the Nebraska Tailwalkers. PLEASE MAKE NOTE: Lake Jennings will be CLOSED FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14th for stocking, and the season will start first thing Saturday morning, November 15th. Prizes will be given out to the five largest trout caught that day. I can't say this enough; put on some fresh line because I can't weigh in "Fish Stories"! Watch for details on opening time. You will want to arrive early and get started. Weigh in will take place around late noon, but again, watch for details as we get closer. Permits MUST be purchased before going past the Bait & Tackle Shop or you will have to go back in line.Moving on to this weekend's report, the fishing continues to be good for all fish types. With the water temperature cooling and the water level dropping, everything is on the move. Reminder, the lake will reach its maximum drop around the end of October, take a couple of days break and then start to pull water back in which usually lasts until the end of the year. What's this mean? Fish will be on the move chasing bait and looking for territory which will keep everything very active.
Check out below for the beginning schedule of trout stocking. You can also "friend us" on Facebook or sign up for the Weekly Fishermen's News. Follow along this season to know what's working and what's not, we want you to catch fish!
PLEASE MAKE NOTE: Lake Jennings will be closed Friday, November 14th for stocking and settle in time. The Trout Season will start first thing Saturday morning, November 15th. See you all there!
The campground continues to show improving trends. For those camping over the next few months, we will have Arts & Crafts on Saturday afternoons and a Campfire with S'mores on Saturday evenings, all ages welcome. For those camping on Halloween, if you have little ones we will have a Trick or Treat from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The campground is open year round and is currently in the Long Term season (minimum 30 days) which will run until the end of March. Long Term stays are allowed year round but during the winter have priority for Full Hookup sites. If you want to stay long term during the months of April through September you need to reserve as soon as possible because during those months it is first come first served whether you visit for 2 days or 2 months. Long term stays MUST be in a camping trailer, 5th wheel trailer, RV, or motorhome, not tents. If you have any questions call us at 619.390.1623 and we would be happy to assist.

Not too much of a report this week but cats were your best bet, and just a reminder, the channel cats can be targeted year round and the big blue cats bite best during the fall. I'm very excited to announce that our trout season is right around the corner and have we got a great season planned for you this year!...... Read More
