Hello from Your Lake Jennings: The top water bite for bass is going on during the first and last hour of daylight. The lake level is being brought down so bass that were in the 25-30' may be much closer. The catfish bite continues in the coves and this Thursday another 1,000 pounds will be placed. Red Ears continue to stick around in Cloister and Half Moon Cove.

Best Cat Spots: Hermit, Cloister and Half Moon Coves.
Best Cat Bait: Mackerel and Nightcrawlers.
Best Bass Spots: Points in 20' to 25' of water in the AM and the shorelines while the lake level is being dropped.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: White Flukes for top water, crawdads on the banks and drop shot throughout the day.
Best Pan Fish Spots: Cloister and Half Moon Coves.
Best Pan Fish Bait: Wax Worms and Meal Worms.
Water Temp: 76 degrees.

Notables: William Mercado, Lakeside, Catfish 6 pounds, Mackerel, Eagle Point.

Prognosis: There is lots going on with the water level being dropped. If the water temperature increases, so should the top water bite. With water levels dropping crawdads are forced to move, which should improve the bite closer to the banks. Again, with the water level being dropped there is a great deal of movement in Hermit Cove putting cats on the move. Reminder that Lake Jennings is open every day until August 4th, 2013 so come out and spend the day fishing, picnicking, and boating. Weekday specials can be found online at www.lakejennings.org. Hello from your Lake Jennings! The warmer temperature was supposed to help out the catfish and bass bite but the temps went a bit off the charts. With that said the red ears and red ear hybrids cooperated well for those who could tolerate the heat fishing mid-day. As expected, the bite did improve some for both the catfish and bass. The bass fishing was best early morning and after dark and the cat fishing was best after dark. Best Catfish Spots:...... Read More
