A problem at the hatchery resulted in no catfish being stocked this week. They have promised us our fish this Wed. and another load on the 25th . Not getting stocked certainly did not improve the catching but something did get our attention. The cat limits that were caught mostly on Friday night, were in deeper water away from the shore. A few of those anglers also caught a couple of trout. Bassin' was better than last week but no one method was better than another. Ika's, big worms and topwater all produced a few fish. A tour of the lake with the fishfinder showed fish all over the water column.
Best cat spots: The bouylines and in the middle of Eagle cove
Best cat bait: Bring mackerel and night crawlers. Fish shallow near vegetation.
Best Bass Spots: Dusk on the bank, daytime bass are stacked up in 25 ft. of water on the points.
Best Bass Lures /bait: Black with red flake Ikas and 12" Texas rigged black worms. Shiners.
Water Temp: 77 degrees
Notables: Sat., Wayne Story, Escondido, 10-9 channel cat, mackerel, Siesta Cove.
Prognosis: We will try again to stock 1000 lbs. of Fish Producers channel cats on Wednesday this week. The water temp inching higher should push the shad and bass closer to the surface.
Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will talk about fishing catfish. 1PM Sunday.

Lake JenningsHello from Your Lake Jennings: Night fishing was absolutely great this weekend, but catching resulted in a lot of skunks. The bass that bit wanted Ika's on the bank and a few fish came on shiners in the 25ft. range. An intermittent surface didn't warrant anything more that an extra rod at the ready if they did show up, The cats bite was slow. The usual spots were the best but it was not what you would call...... Lake JenningsHello from Your Lake Jennings: Remember we are open July 4th. 5:30 AM to 8:30 PM. The bass bite picked up and the cat bite slowed even though we planted 1000 lbs. earlier in the week.
