Hello from Your Lake Jennings:
We started the Night Fishing season on Friday with some new fisherman and others holding their tradition of being amongst the first in line. The cats weren't the most cooperative but anglers still caught them and had a great start to the season. Some limits reported. The lake will now be open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Full size lanterns are required. A few Bass were caught in the morning and again during the night. Night Fishing is great time to target bass. Redears continue to bite in the back of the coves and near the boat dock. Your best bet to catch a nice size Redear is to use a wax worm with a small hook.

Best Trout Spots: Shadow Cove and the fishing float.
Best Trout Bait/Lures: Nightcrawlers and Power Bait.
Best Cat Spots: Bird Trees, back of the coves in areas with heavy vegetation and down trees.
Best Cat Bait: Mackerel and nightcrawlers. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: Coves and off the points.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Plastics, nightcrawlers and crawdads.

Water Temp.: 68 degrees on the surface.

Notables: Saturday, Kevin Livers, Kearny Mesa, Limit on cats, 7-4 Catfish and a 4-1 Catfish, Mackerel, Siesta Cove.

Prognosis: Catfish will continue to move to the shorelines around the lake in areas with down trees and heavy vegetation. The Redear bite should continue for those targeting them. The cats will keep moving in to the shallows to look for good spawning grounds. We plant 1000 lbs. of catfish on May 28th, see schedule below. The lake will be open from Friday thru Monday for the Memorial Day weekend and the campground is sold out. Make your reservations early and remember you can reserve up to 1 year in advance.

Hello from Your Lake Jennings: Trout fishing slowed down a bit this weekend though lots of the Sierra Bow trout can be seen cruising the shoreline. Not much more has changed this week. Bass are still in 15-20' of water all along the shoreline with guardian males protecting fry balls. Redears are in 15-20' of water in the coves with reports of several 1-1  ? pounders being caught. Cruise the bank early when the lake is glass...... Read More
