Think rocks. The guys that are casting to the rocky bottom (25' to 30') and working up into the weeds get bit right at the weedline by the bass. This coincides with the annual crawdad bite. What is different is we are at full pool . Normally we are in the process of dropping the lake which in turn displaces the crawdads. What we think is happening now is the bass are watching the weed edge for their "lobster" dinner. The surface bite is not wide open in the mornings. It is hit and miss and is done by 9 AM. The cat bite is steady. The spot that is producing best is the 2nd buoy on the south side of the dam casting towards the dam. Guess what you are fishing? The riprap on the dam. It is rocks again!

Best Cat Spots:
Cloister Cove (Bird trees), and south side of the buoyline.

Best Cat Bait:
Mackerel and chicken livers. Use scent liberally.

Best Bass Spots:
The west side of Sentry and Eagle Point also the riprap that parallels the launch ramp.

Best Bass Lures/Bait:
Spoons or topwater stuff at the boils. Dropshotting Arron's Magic or Morning Dawn 7" worms.

Water Temp:
76 degrees on surface

Prognosis:
Fall is one of the best times of the year for both bass and cats and yet until we stock trout you can have almost all the lake to yourself. We anticipate our trout stocking to begin the week of October 24th but may start earlier if the water temp drops below 74 degrees.

The bass bite is just OK if you can locate the schools on the points using spoons or ice jigs. The bird trees kicked out a couple of cat limits for some and for others it was a skunk. No one, it seems, was fishing the deep water at the buoyline. Best Cat Spots: Cloister Cove ( Bird trees), and Buoyline . Best Cat Bait: Mackerel and chicken livers. Use scent liberally.
