We were hoping for fireworks but basically fishing was a dud! Cats were only fair. The best bet continues to be the bird trees. Bass weren't and red ears were even worse. The best part of the weekend was it cooled down at night for the night fishing, so you could escape the hot house.
Best Cat Spots:
Bird Trees and the edges of any flooded trees particularly in the backs of the coves.
Best Cat Bait:
Mackerel and chicken livers. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots:
Hermit Cove and they are moving back to the points.
Best Bass Lures/Bait:
Texas rigged creature baits, Bass Assassins'.
Water Temp:
78 degrees on the surface
Prognosis:
Eventually everything has got to eat. The trick is having your bait or artificial in the water when they do.
