The drizzle and cold front put the chill on all the bites. Trout were caught incidently. A few cats were caught, mostly in the backs of the coves. The bass had lockjaw. Most bassers got 1 fish while fishing hard...

Best Trout Spots:
Shadow Cove and fishing float.
Best Trout Lures/Bait:
Rainbow Power Bait on at 2ft. leader at Shadow Cove

Best Cat Spots:
Bird Trees and the edges of any flooded trees particularly in the backs of the coves.
Best Cat Bait:
Mackerel and nightcrawlers. Use scent liberally.

Best Bass Spots:
Hermit Cove and they are moving back to the points.
Best Bass Lures/bait:
Texas rigged creature baits, crawdads, Rattletraps and Bass Assassins'.

Water Temp:
69 degrees on surface

Prognosis:
The channel catfish as they move into the shallows looking for spawning spots are best found in the backs of the coves. If we get some warmer days a topwater bite will get going....

Our inaugural weekend of night fishing was just OK. A few limits of channels were caught but nothing really big. As predicted the backs of the coves provided most of the action. Bass bit better in the mornings. A few trout are being caught in 30 ft. of water out at the buoyline. Redears are showing up with regularity as a bycatch. It is finally here! The night fishing program starts next Friday night when the lake opens at 5 PM. The lake will have been stocked with 1000 lbs. of catfish. Fish either the bird trees or the backs of the coves. This is also your opportunity to do a little nighttime bass fishing.
