It is finally here! The night fishing program starts next Friday night when the lake opens at 5 PM. The lake will have been stocked with 1000 lbs. of catfish. Fish either the bird trees or the backs of the coves. This is also your opportunity to do a little nighttime bass fishing. We have the longest season of any lake. 16 weeks this year, thru Labor Day weekend.

A few trout limits are showing up but trolling is done. Most of the fish are being caught on Power Bait in 30 to 50 ft. of water. Shadow Cove is worth trying. Red ears are still spawning. Locate the beds and throw a mealworm on a # 8 baitholder hook.

Best Trout Spots:
Shadow Cove and fishing float.

Best Trout Lures/Bait:
Rainbow PowerBait on at 2ft. leader at Shadow Cove

Best Cat Spots:
Bird Trees and the edges of any flooded trees.

Best Cat Bait:
Mackerel and nightcrawlers. Use scent liberally.

Best Bass Spots:
Hermit Cove and they are moving back to the points.

Best Bass Lures/bait:
Texas rigged creature baits, crawdads, Rattletraps and Bass Assassins'.

Water Temp:
68 degrees on surface

Prognosis:
The trout are winding down. The spawning bass bite is done. The fish to concentrate is channel catfish as they move into the shallows looking for spawning spots.

A shore bite from Cactus Patch has re-emerged using water floats or  ? oz. sinkers and rainbow Power Bait. The bass are in postspawn. Beds can still be found and there are a lot of guardian males with fry balls. Hermit Cove has...... Read More
