As the Bass continue to indulge this was a great weekend to toss a line out. With several notables caught bets were that the prize catch would be with a crawdad, and those in favor won. Have a second rod ready if you want to get the early morning boils. Cats continue to be caught though no limits were reported. Don't forget that Trout Season is approaching quickly and we will be stocking Mt. Lassen's new "Sierra Bow" with 1,000 pounds every week. Lake Jennings Campground is open year round. Make your reservation online today at: http://www.lakejennings.org

Best Cat Spots: Shadow Cove and the buoy line.
Best Cat Bait: Mackerel, Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: Target the banks and fish downhill, also watch for early morning boils.
Best Bass Lures/bait: Zara Spooks, Kastmasters, and Senkos.
Water Temp: 76 degrees on the surface.

Notables: Fri., T.J. McGuire, Chula Vista, 10-0 Lg. Mouth Bass, Crawdad, Hermit cove; Sat., Mike Franklin, Harbison Canyon, 4-12 Lg. Mouth Bass, Black 7" Senko, Shadow Cove; Sun., Ray Monfera, San Diego, 9-12 Lg. Mouth Bass, top water (unrevealed), Hermit Cove.

Prognosis: Now is as good as it gets if you want to take a mental note on the structure around the lake. It's time again to bring back our Twilight Boat rentals for the last 3 hours we are open. That's a motorboat rental for only $20.00 from 4pm to closing. Our first trout plant is on schedule for the week of October 18th. Now I wouldn't want to interrupt any traditions so keep your ears open because if water temps drop sooner we will start the season off a week earlier. For more information on the Mt. Lassen trout visit: http://www.mtlassentrout.com/sierrabow.html

The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching catfishing on Sunday at 1 PM. Lake Jennings Campground now has Wi-Fi at every campsite. For more info call Lake Jennings (619) 443-2510 or visit http://www.lakejennings.org

Cats...what will they do next? Typically they are expected to be deep (I'm sure most of them are) though a hungry bunch provided limits back in Hermit Cove this weekend. The bass bite really picked up, we had fish caught on just about any jerkbait that was tossed into a boil around the 80-100 ft. of water. Grassy areas and spots with structure continue to produce using anything resembling crawdads and colors such as purple and neon...... Read More
