Lake Jennings Fishing Report

Stocking: The lake was stocked with 1,000 pounds of catfish the week of August 17th. The next stocking of 1,000 pounds is the week of September 7th! The total stock so far is 5,500 pounds. A total of 8,500 pounds will be stocked this season with catfish stockings concluding in October.

What’s the catch? 

CATFISH - Freshly stocked catfish are keeping anglers busy, with the best action coming during the cooler evening hours and after dark. Try chicken liver, mackerel, shrimp or dip bait along deeper shorelines and near the buoy line.

GHOST CATFISH - Have you spotted one of our rare ghost catfish? These uniquely colored fish are always a fun surprise when they show up on the end of a line. Technically not an albino because their eyes do not lack pigmentation. Ten percent of the last stocking were ghost catfish. If you catch one, be sure to snap a photo and share your catch with us!

REDEAR - Sunfish are providing plenty of action for anglers looking for a fun, family-friendly catch. Small baits such as mealworms, wax worms and pieces of nightcrawler can be great choices when targeting panfish. 

BASS - Bass continue to bite best during the early morning and evening hours. Focus on rocky points, submerged structure and weed edges, with shiners, Texas-rigged plastics, jigs and swimbaits all producing fish. As daytime temperatures climb, look for bass in deeper water.

The lake will continue to be open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays through October.

Conditions: The water temperature at the surface is 80.7 degrees. Temps throughout the water column are stable. The sun is rising at 6:24 a.m. and setting at 7:10 p.m. The next new moon is September 10th.
