Stocking: The lake was stocked with another 1,000 pounds of catfish the week of July 6th. The next stocking of 1,000 pounds is the week of July 27th. The total stock so far is 3,500 pounds. A total of 8,500 pounds will be stocked this season.

What’s the catch? The bass bite continues to be the highlight this summer. Anglers are finding success in the early morning and evening hours, targeting structure, rocky  points, and shaded coves. Drop shots, Texas-rigged plastics, and live shiners have all been producing quality fish like the 10.1-pounder (see above) caught this weekend.

Catfish are providing steady action throughout the lake. Cut mackerel, chicken liver, and nightcrawlers remain the top baits. Focus on deeper water during the day and move into shallower areas as the sun goes down for your best chance at a limit. The evening bite has been especially productive.

Panfish are keeping families and young anglers busy with plenty of bluegill and redear sunfish around the shoreline, docks, and submerged brush. Small pieces of nightcrawler, waxworms, or mealworms fished under a bobber are all you need for fast-paced action.

Conditions: The aerator has been turned on. Temps throughout the water column are more stable. The surface temperature around the boat dock is holding steady at 80.7 degrees. The sun is rising at 5:56 a.m. and setting at 7:53 p.m.
