Stocking: The lake was stocked with 1,500 pounds of Rainbow Trout this week. The LAST stocking of 1,500 pounds of Rainbow Trout is the week of April 27th. Catfish Opener is Memorial Day weekend. More info coming soon.

What’s the Catch? Despite warming water temps, Rainbow Trout are still active, especially in deeper, cooler water. Expect best action early morning and late afternoon. With this week’s stocking, we expect limits by the bunches this weekend. Bait that has produced consistently for trout all season are PowerBait (garlic, chartreuse, orange) and mini jigs or small spinners.

Largemouth Bass is active and moving into spring patterns—look for them around structure, points, and shallow spawning areas. Use drop-shot rigs, finesse worms, and swimbaits.

If you’re fishing throughout the day, don’t miss out on the panfish bite! Large schools have been spotted in Half Moon and Eagle Coves. Meal worms and pieces of nightcrawler will yield bites.

We expect reports of catfish this weekend as the water temperature continues to climb and we’ll be open until 10:00 p.m. this Saturday. Mackerel and garlic shrimp don’t miss.

Don’t forget to share your catch! Tag us on social media with #LakeJennings for a chance to be featured in our next report.

Conditions: The temperature in the water column is stratified with the surface temps reading  70.2 degrees to 64.2 at the 40 foot depth. The dissolved oxygen content is highest between 30-40 feet. Expect trout to be suspended at these depths. The lake level will drop approximately four feet in the next couple of weeks. Be aware of changing shorelines if you’re boating. The sun is rising at 6:17 a.m. and setting at 7:19 p.m.
