Stocking: The lake was stocked with 1,500 pounds of Rainbow Trout this week!  DFW added another 500 pounds. Our next planned stocking is the week of March 16th. Total trout stocked so far this season is 13,000 pounds from Idaho plus the addition of DFW stockings throughout the season.

What’s the Catch? Trout fishing will be the highlight this weekend. Rangers have spotted lots of Rainbow Trout hugging the shoreline this week. Trout will continue to cruise the shallows during the early morning hours; moving slightly deeper as the sun gets higher. The best bite has been during sunrise and late afternoon when the fish are most active.

Top trout baits and lures right now are Powerbait in pink, yellow, and anything garlic, nightcrawlers fished off the bottom under a float, mini jigs in white, pink, or trout patterns.

With cool water temperatures and steady stocking, anglers can expect good trout action over the next several weeks. Fishing early, targeting coves and points, and using light line will help increase your chances of landing a limit. Don’t forget to swing by the boat dock and ring the limits bell!

Don’t forget to share your catch! Tag us on social media with #LakeJennings for a chance to be featured in our next report.

Conditions: The current water temperature is 65 degrees. The sun is rising at 6:11 a.m. and setting at 5:49 p.m. The lake elevation remains steady at 695’. The next new moon is March 18th. Join us for New Moon Fishing on Saturday, March 21st where the lake will be open until 10:00 p.m.
