Stocking: Another 1,500 pounds of Rainbow Trout was stocked this week from Wrights Rainbows. Our next planned stocking is the week of March 2nd. We will continue to stock Rainbow Trout through April. The total stock this season will be 19,000 pounds from Wrights Rainbows.
What’s the Catch? Take advantage of this week’s stocking! Newly stocked trout typically cruise shallow early in the day, moving a bit deeper as temperatures rise.
Hot spots: Hermit Cove, Cactus Patch, and Eagle Point remain consistently productive for anglers.
Top baits & lures right now: PowerBait — especially garlic chartreuse, orange, and rainbow varieties. Nightcrawlers — floated under a bobber or off the bottom. Mini jigs (white/pink/trout colors) and small spinners catch fish early and late.
Timing: Early morning and late afternoon are generally the most productive periods. Fishing right after a stocking often yields the best action — fish are concentrated and hungry. If fishing after a stocking, try multiple spots (Hermit Cove, Siesta Cove, buoy lines) to find where trout schools have settled.
Be ready for bass also targeting stocked trout (especially larger ones) — trout-pattern swimbaits can attract both species.
Don’t forget to share your catch! Tag us on social media with #LakeJennings for a chance to be featured in our next report.
Conditions: The current water temperature is 64 degrees. The sun is rising at 6:40 a.m. and setting at 5:25 p.m. The next new moon will be February 17th. Join us for New Moon Fishing this Saturday, where the lake will be open until 10:00 p.m.
