Hello from Your Lake Jennings: The bite is best described as lousy for everything. A mixed bag of trout and cats are coming off the fishing float. The topwater bass action is best described as sporadic. The best bet is to have a rod rigged and if they blow up close you are ready but concentrate on plastics. I think that the cat bite will improve if anglers concentrate on fishing shallow and along side of submerged vegetation.

Best Trout Spots: Shadow Cove and the fishing float
Best Trout Lures / Bait: Power Bait on a 4 ft. leader dipped in scent.

Best Cat Spots: Bird trees and Hermit Cove.
Best Cat Bait: Night crawlers and mackerel. Use scent liberally.

Best Bass Spots: Dropshotting Sentry and Eagle Points in 25 to 30 ft. Topwater at the bank early and late and the Hermit Cove and the Shadow Cove Buoylines casting to the boils.
Best Bass Lures /bait: Dropshotting 4" worms. Frogs and Pop-R's.

Water Temp. 70 to 71 degrees on surface.

Notables: No fish over 3 lbs. reported.

Prognosis: Remember that we do not open until 5 PM on Friday. We will stock 1000 lbs. of cats this Friday. As long as the cool weather continues I don't expect to see a red hot bite for the warmwater species but the trout will last a little longer. Try using a water float and let the worm sink slowly to catch those suspended trout

The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching cat fishing?Ķ?Ķ

Hello from Your Lake Jennings: This weekend the anglers struggled to get bit whether it was bass, cats or trout. Suprisingly a few limits of trout came off the fishing float and Shadow Cove. . The first signs of shad being chased on the surface by bass happened early mornings and a few fish were taken by topwater casting to the boils. The cats were the biggest disappointment. The back end of Hermit Cove and the bird...... Read More

Hello from Lake Jennings! We start our night fishing this Memorial Weekend but because it is a holiday weekend we will open at 5:45 Friday morning instead of our usual 5 PM opening for night fishing. The rest of the Summer we will open at the regular 5 PM time. Trout and bass are expected to be slow but the cats should be easy to target as they have moved closer to shore. Best Trout Spots: Middle of the lake. Best Trout Lures/Bait: Inflated crawlers on a...... Read More
