Hello from Your Lake Jennings: If your memory is like mine then you won't recognize that this week's report is just like last weeks. The trout have started to move out to deeper water. A few limits were caught out by the buoyline by drifting nightcrawlers down to 100 ft. Bass are scattered. Most are being caught off the points in 20 ft. of water. A few are being caught along the bank. It is definitely postspawn!!!!! Dropshotting by far is producing the greatest numbers. Cats are being caught around the bird trees and the floating boathouse. Speaking of catfish: Night fishing starts Memorial Day weekend. Starting May 22 you can fish until midnight on Friday and Saturday. We will also be open on Memorial Day.
Best Trout Spots: Middle of the lake.
Best Trout Lures / Bait: Inflated crawlers on a 2 ft. leader dipped in scent.
Best Cat Spots: Bird trees and floating boathouse.
Best Cat Bait: Night crawlers and mackerel. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: Every 15 ft. along the shore and off the points. Think postspawn..
Best Bass Lures /bait: Dropshooting10" black Power Worms and 4" margarita mutilator worms.
Water Temp. 65 to 67 degrees on surface.
Notables: No fish reported over 3 lbs. or limits under 1 hour.
Prognosis: April is always a great month for the bass. Some Rapala and frog fish reported. Even though we have had our last trout plant the inventory remains high and traditionally remains good until mid-May.
The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching bait fishing for trout.
