Hello from Your Lake Jennings: The big question is: Why aren't the bass moving up into the shallows? The water is 60 to 61. The days are sunny and it is the 1st of February! There has been a very good afternoon cat bite at the buoyline but if you fish before 2 PM make sure you bring either a pillow or a book because not much happens before then. The trout are close to the bottom. The key is leaders that are 2ft. or less.
Best Trout Spots: Shadow and Half Moon Coves and the concrete steps.
Best Trout Lures / Bait: Inflated crawlers on a 2 ft. leader dipped in scent.

Best Cat Spots: The dam buoyline.
Best Cat Bait: Night crawlers and mackerel. Use scent liberally.

Best Bass Spots: Off the points dropshotting in 25 to 35 ft. water.
Best Bass Lures /bait: It is jig time using creature baits. Swimbaits have not been working

Water Temp. 60 to 61 degrees on surface.

Notables: No fish over 3 lbs or limits under 1 hour.

Prognosis: An incoming low pressure system may put a damper on the fishing regardless of this week's trout plant from Mt. Lassen. The slow trout fishing in previous weeks should build the inventory that will eventually bust loose. Will it be this week?

The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching bait fishing for trout at 1 PM on Sunday.

Hello from Your Lake Jennings: The bite continues to be lackluster for all species. In fact we are starting a vaccination program for our fish to eliminate lockjaw. The bass should be moving uphill. The cats should not be too far behind as evidenced by 1 being caught under the bird trees. The trout are really moving around. One week it is Cactus Patch and then next week they are in Shadow Cove or off of Sentry Point. Best Trout...... Read More

Hello from Your Lake Jennings: No excuses, fishing was poor. In the trout dept. all we did was add to inventory. A few bass were caught on points and a few cats were caught at the buoyline. Some bass have been observed moving up in the afternoon but no one can make them bite. Best Trout Spots: Hermit Cove buoyline and the west side of Eagle Point. Best Trout Lures / Bait: Inflated crawlers on a 2 ft. leader dipped...... Read More
