Hello from Your Lake Jennings: No excuses, fishing was poor. In the trout dept. all we did was add to inventory. A few bass were caught on points and a few cats were caught at the buoyline. Some bass have been observed moving up in the afternoon but no one can make them bite.
Best Trout Spots: Hermit Cove buoyline and the west side of Eagle Point.
Best Trout Lures / Bait: Inflated crawlers on a 2 ft. leader dipped in scent and drifted down the water column using a water float.
Best Cat Spots: The dam buoyline.
Best Cat Bait: Night crawlers are out fishing mackerel. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: Off the points dropshotting in 25 to 35 ft. water.
Best Bass Lures /bait: Crawdads in 30 ft worked better than everything else.
Water Temp. 60 to 61 degrees on surface.
Notables: No fish over 3 lbs or limits under 1 hour.
Prognosis: Another Mt Lassen 1000 lbs. of trout will arrive on Tuesday of this week. My crystal ball is foggy so I don't know what to predict. Open every day until Jan. 4th., 5:45 AM to 5:15 PM. Prime times for both cats and bass are 5:30 AM to 9 AM and 3:30 to dark thirty.
The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching bait fishing for trout at 1 PM on Sunday.

Lake JenningsHello from Your Lake Jennings: " Wind from the East fish bite least. Wind from the West fish bite best." Isn't it funny how some sayings are based in fact. When you factor in the full moon it is no wonder a lot of anglers went home with empty stringers. As always a few trout limits came in. The concrete steps, the flat west of Eagle Point and Shadow Cove had those bragging rights. Overall there was little...... Read More

Lake JenningsHello from Your Lake Jennings: Happy New Year everyone. As we headed towards New Years eve there was fishing fireworks and then the bite fizzled and has been sputtering along since. I don't just mean trout. There were some nice bass and fry pan sized cats. All in the usual spots for this time of year. We are starting to see an ice jig bite with the smallest jigs also catching some crappie in 100...... Read More
