Launch Conditions: PRIVATE WATER CRAFTS ARE CURRENTLY BANNED

In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and private equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment now includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contact the water.

Trout action has been fair with some nice Rainbow Trout being taken. Top Trout baits have been night crawlers, marshmallows, yellow power bait, and yellow power worms. Obediah Barnett of Crest caught a 1#9 Trout using Green Power Bait in Boat Dock Cove. Best Trout areas have been in Boat Dock Cove and Willow Cove. Light line and small hooks are a must for Trouting success. Four-pound test line or less and size #14 or smaller treble hooks are recommended.

Bass conditions are ideal. Ben Yaja of Chula Vista caught and released a 4#8 Bass using a black plastic worm off Senior Shoreline. Keith Russell of Escondido landed a 3#0 Bass on a night crawler off Senior Shoreline. Swim bait lures, crawdads, plastic worms, and live golden shiners are working best for the Bass now.

The Crappie have moved in tight to the bank and a few of the scrappy pan fish are coming in. Small golden shiners and finger jigs have been the preferred baits. Wendell Jackson of Escondido caught a 1#9 Crappie on a Shiner off Crappie Rock. The Bluegill have started to bite early this year and are hitting red worms in Oakvale Cove.

Amber Imes of El Cajon caught and released a 2#13 Catfish on a night crawler in Boat Dock Cove. Carp action has also picked up.
