Hello from Lake Jennings! The trout bite continues to be better than expected
thanks to a cool off. The problem is that it is almost a "boats only" bite.
Trolling firetiger Rapalas and silver Kastmasters or drift fishing crawlers are
the only productive methods. The bass are all over the lake, though the biters
tend to be in 25 ft. of water eating drop-shot plastics. A few fish are being
caught on Bass Assassins on the bank and an equally few are biting swim baits.
Best Trout Spots: The boat dock, fishing float and buoy line triangle.
Best Trout Lures/Bait: Silver Kastmasters and firetiger Rapalas for trolling and nightcrawlers drifted
about 25 to 30 feet down.
Best Catfish Spots: First choice is the bird trees and then anywhere there is brush in the water.
Best Catfish Bait: Nightcrawlers are really working well or mackerel.
Best Bass Spots: On the bank in 5 ft. of water in brush and under trees.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Bass Assassins, drop-shotting 4" worms. Swim baits.
Notables: No fish over 3 lbs reported or limits in 30 minutes.
Prognosis: The bite for trout will continue for another month. Cats and red ears are being caught on the
bank. Think "post spawn" for bass.
Water Temperature: 65-68 degrees.
Current Schedule: We will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 5:45 a.m. ??? 8:15 p.m.
Coming Soon: Night Fishing season begins Friday, May 16th, three weeks earlier this year!
Last Chance! Discounted Boat Rental: We have created a twilight special for our motorboats. After
4:00PM motorboats can be rented for $20.00. That gives you over 4 hours of primetime fishing. Offer ends
when we start night fishing on May 16th.
FREE Fishing Classes Open to the Public!
Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about fishing cats. Most importantly, the classes are FREE! Ranger Hugh will be the professor.
