Hello from your Lake Jennings! We'll be open on Monday Jan. 21 st, Martin Luther King Day. The only bite worth mentioning is the bass bite though most anglers that are targeting this fish are not having much success. The reason: The bass want deep and painfully slow retrieve with lots of dead stick time. The trout bite crashed this week. Some limits came fast on Friday, after that you had to work for a couple of fish. A few cats came to trout anglers on the Hermit buoy line. Beyond that no one was really targeting those fish. Crawlers have been best.

Best Trout Spots: Half Moon Cove and Eagle Point.

Best Trout Lures/Bait: Inflated crawlers on a 4' leader. Chartruese Gulp also working.

Best Catfish Spots: The Hermit Cove buoy line and the middle of Eagle Cove.

Best Catfish Lures/Bait: Bring mackerel, shrimp and night crawlers. Fish deep.

Best Bass Spots: 40 ft. of water off the points. Fish slow.

Best Bass Lures/Bait: Ikas, crawdads and 4" Senkos.

Notables: No fish over 3 lbs. or limits under 30 minutes reported.

Water Temperature: 54 degrees.

Prognosis: Mt. Lassen has another 1,200 lbs. of trout headed to Lake Jennings this Friday. The bass at the launch ramp have promised to welcome them with open mouths. Remember we are just a few weeks away from spawning season so the big girls ARE looking for big chunks of protein. Throw swim baits.

Holiday Weekend Schedule: We'll be open this Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday (MLK Day) from 6:00 a.m. ??? 5:30 p.m.

Offer Extended! Discounted Boat Rental: We have created a twilight special for our motorboats. After 3:00PM motorboats can be rented for $20.00. That gives you over 2 1/4 hours of primetime fishing.

FREE fishing classes: Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will cover trout. Most importantly, the classes are FREE! Ranger Hugh will be the professor.
