The trout bite continues to be good for trollers using orange Power Worms and crawlers. A shore bite from Cactus Patch has re-emerged using water floats or ? oz. sinkers and rainbow Power Bait.
The bass are quickly moving into postspawn. Beds can still be found and there are a lot of guardian males with fry balls. Hermit Cove has bass chasing shad subsurface but occasionally a bass will have a brain fade and hit a topwater.
Cats are now being found under the bird trees. Redears are spawning. Cruise the bank early when the lake is glass. They are in 10 to 15 ft. of water.
Best Trout Spots:
Cactus Patch, Eagle Point, fishing float and the buoyline triangle .
Best Trout Lures / Bait:
? a crawler drifted down about 10 to 15 ft. Rainbow Power Bait on at 2ft. leader at Cactus Patch
Best Cat Spots:
Bird Trees
Best Cat Bait:
Mackerel and nightcrawlers. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots:
Hermit Cove and they are moving back to the points.
Best Bass Lures /bait:
Texas rigged creature baits, crawdads, Rattletraps and Bass Assassins'.
Water Temp:
66 degrees on surface
Prognosis:
The trout inventory is strong and we anticipate good trout fishing thru mid-May. The spawning bass bite is winding down but with the warm up forecasted the last of the undecided should make their move.
The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching trout fishing ...... 1 PM Sunday
