Hello from your Lake Jennings. Again we had another less than stellar bite. Trout were few and difficult. Bass were deep in the weed beds off of the points but they were still eating crawdads. Cats provided the most consistent bite but few anglers were targeting them.

Best Trout Spots: Sentry Point.
Best Trout Lures / Bait:salmon peach Power Bait. .
Best Cat Spots::Cloister Cove, the buoyline off Eggert Point.
Best Cat Bait: Mackerel and nightcrawlers. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: fish the weeds on all the points. Best Bass Lures /bait: Crawdads and creature plastics. Water Temp: 68 degrees on surface.

Notables: Mon. Rueben Summerfield, El Cajon, 3-4 channel, Sentry pt., nightcrawler.

Prognosis: We will stock 1000 lbs of Sierra 'Bows on Thursday. The waning moon should shift the trout bite to daytime . The cats will continue to bite if you fish deep water.

The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching trout fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m.. Lake Jennings Campground now has Wi-Fi at every campsite. For more info, you can call Hugh Marx (619)980-4844 or visit http://www.lakejennings.org

Hello from your Lake Jennings. Our kickoff weekend for trout fishing was all about bass and cats. The trout were too busy exploring their new home so they did not bite very well. Like years past the cat bite was better. Some nice bass were also caught. Whenever we drop the lake it displaces crawdads and small fish and the bass concentrate on the weed line. Jigs, Ikas, dropshotted worms and of course crawdads and mudsuckers...... Read More
