Hello from your Lake Jennings. Our kickoff weekend for trout fishing was all about bass and cats. The trout were too busy exploring their new home so they did not bite very well. Like years past the cat bite was better. Some nice bass were also caught. Whenever we drop the lake it displaces crawdads and small fish and the bass concentrate on the weed line. Jigs, Ikas, dropshotted worms and of course crawdads and mudsuckers were the most productive.
Best Trout Spots: Sentry Point.
Best Trout Lures / Bait:salmon peach Power Bait. .
Best Cat Spots::Cloister Cove, the buoyline off Eggert Point.
Best Cat Bait: Mackerel and nightcrawlersUse scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: fish the weeds on all the points. Best Bass Lures /bait: Mudsuckers, crawdads and creature plastics. Water Temp: 70 degrees on surface.
Notables: Sat., John Visser, Jake Alirez, Alex Martinez, Lemon Grove, triple limits of cats, buoyline, Secret 7. Sun., Jackie Hale and Zach Noonan, Lakeside, 6-8 and 6-0 largemouths, mudsuckers, Hermit Cove.
Prognosis: We will be giving the trout our customer service lecture so hopefully the bite will improve but the full moon may shut down everything.
The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching trout fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m.. Lake Jennings Campground now has Wi-Fi at every campsite. For more info, you can call Hugh Marx (619)980-4844 or visit http://www.lakejennings.org

Lake JenningsHello from your Lake Jennings. The Bass continue to bite along with the catfish and some anglers getting limits. Keep in mind that our Lake Record of a 68 pound catfish was caught on Halloween in 2004 and this time of the year offers some of the best fishing for catfish. Due to high demand and low temperatures we are kicking off our Trout Season this week with 2,000 pounds of Sierra Bow trout. We will then skip a...... Read More
