Hello from Your Lake Jennings. Catfishing was not so great during our first weekend of  ? hr before sunrise to  ? hour after sunset and our turnout was just as bad. Cats continue to move to deeper waters and a boat is a must. On the brighter side, some top water action and free lining was reported by those with good timing and patience. The bite should get better as the lake continues to drawdown and keeps the crawdads on the move (just ask the kid who picked out a good dozen of them by the boat dock). The weather forecast calls for next weekend to be warmer so reserve your site in advance for camping.

Best Cat Spots: Shadow Cove and the buoy line.

Best Cat Bait: Mackerel, Use scent liberally

Best Bass Spots: 25 ft on all the points.

Best Bass Lures /bait: Spooks, Gunfish, Kastmasters and Senkos (free lining).

Water Temp.: 78 degrees on the surface.

Notables: No fish over 3 lbs. or limits under 1 hour.

Prognosis: Remember that our night fishing is done until next season. Our trout season will begin as soon as the water temp is below 74 degrees. Mt. Lassen will provide us the same as last season, their new rainbow trout called the "Sierra Bow". This trout has a tasty pink flesh and based upon testing and last season, is a better fight with great action. Watch for the upcoming trout stocking schedule.

The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching catfishing on Sunday at 1PM. For more details, you can call (619)390-1300 or visit us online at www.lakejennings.org. Night fishing every Friday and Saturday until Labor Day. Lake Jennings Campground now has WiFi at every campsite.

New Hours:
Fri., @ 6:00 AM; closes for fishing at 7:45PM
Sat., @ @ 6:00 AM; closes for fishing at 7:45PM
Sun.,@@ 6:00 AM; closes for fishing at 7:45PM

The weather forecast calls for good camping, be sure to reserve your site in advance. Best Cat Spots: Shadow Cove and the buoy line. Best...... Read More
