Hello from Your Lake Jennings: Next weekend is the time that we all have been waiting for; the start of night fishing. Our first 1000 lb. catfish plant will be Friday morning May 21st. We will open our gates at 5 PM. Full size lanterns are required after 8 PM. Jackie Hale has found the magic for the bass. Every Saturday for the last 6 weeks she has been throwing mudsuckers and catching lots of bass. Previously she had an 11+. Trout have actually been caught off the fishing float. Trollers using leadcore and getting down 6 colors with crawlers are taking home frying pan material.... Amazingly no one seems to be targeting the cats, but a troller reported catching 'em on a crankbait.

Best Trout Spots: Middle of the lake and the concrete steps.
Best Trout Lures/Bait: Salmon Peach Power Bait.
Best Cat Spots: The bird trees.
Best Cat Bait: Mackerel or nightcrawlers. Use scent liberally
Best Bass Spots: 25 ft on all the points.
Best Bass Lures /bait: mudsuckers and d/s 4" morning dawn worms.
Water Temp. 67 degrees on surface.

Notables: Sat., Jackie Hale, Lakeside, 8-12 & 3-4 largemouths, mudsuckers, Hermit Cove.
Prognosis: The early season night fishing pattern for channel cats is always fish shallow in the brush and the backs of the coves.

The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching catfishing ...... 1 PM Sunday

Hello from Your Lake Jennings: If this report is familiar it is because it is almost exactly the same as last week... It is scratchy at best for all species. Cats are being found shallow but are also being found at the buoyline.. The majority of trout are suspended but some are being caught in the backs of the coves. The best strategy is drifting a crawler in the middle of the lake down about 35 ft. Bass,...... Read More

Hello from Your Lake Jennings: The trout bite continues to be an iffy proposition. Limits were caught but scattered all over the lake. Some trout were caught on lures in the backs of Hermit and Half Moon Coves. Others got skunked in the same spots using the same lures. Bass are also hit and miss having moved into the post spawn. For some reason no one has been targeting the cats... So we don't have...... Read More
