Hello from your Lake Jennings! The trout bite was excellent if you were in a few
select spots. It was horrible if you were not. The bass bite slowed. A lot of bass were
on the bank but crystal clear water gave them lockjaw unless you used 4 to 6 lb. test.
The better bite was in 20' to 30' ft of water dropshotting purple and pink worms.
Cats are starting to be caught under the bird trees.
Best Trout Spots: Cactus Patch and the concrete steps.
Best Trout Lures/Bait: Inflated crawlers were #1, Salmon Peach Power Bait was #2.
Best Catfish Spots: The bird trees.
Best Catfish Bait: Mackerel or nightcrawlers. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: The launch ramp.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Crawdads, Ikas and jigs.
Notables: 1 hr. double limit: Fri., Georgia and Mike Byum, Alpine, 10 trout, Hermit Cove buoyline, inflated crawlers.
Prognosis: We are on the backside of the peak spawning period for the bass, so don't put it off or you'll miss it. We have had our last trout plant of the year. The inventory and the good fishing typically lasts into mid-May. Our first catfish plant will be mid-May.
Water Temperature: 64 degrees on the surface.
Current Schedule: Lake Jennings will be open this Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Coming Soon: Night fishing starts May 21, 2010!
FREE Fishing Classes Open to the Public!
Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about trout fishing. Our curriculum will transition to catfish in a couple weeks. Most importantly, the classes are FREE! Ranger Hugh will be the professor.
