Hello from your Lake Jennings! The bass fishing was excellent this weekend. The
ultra clear (25') water has the fish either bedding deep or tight to cover with most
bass deep. The trout fishing picked up for the shore anglers and not so hot for the
boaters. Eagle Point, Cactus Patch and the concrete steps put trout limits on the
stringers. Cats were hit and miss. They are on the move. Sometimes deep works, and
sometimes in the brush works.
Best Trout Spots: Eagle Point, Cactus Patch and the concrete steps.
Best Trout Lures/Bait: Mealworm/marshmallow combo.
Best Catfish Spots: The dam buoyline and the brush.
Best Catfish Bait: Chicken livers or nightcrawlers... use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: The launch ramp.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Crawdads, Ikas and jigs.
Notables: Tom Jurancich Jr. (pictured left), largemouth, Sentry Point, morning
dawn 6" worms.
Prognosis: Like we forecasted, the hot weather pushed the bass over the edge. The
fact that the weather should be stable should bring the trout back online. We will
stock a 1,000 lb. load of Mt. Lassen's great (Sierra Bow) trout this Tuesday. And yes,
we'll be at the Fred Hall Show at Del Mar. Come by and say hi.
Water Temperature: 63 degrees on the surface.
Current Schedule: Lake Jennings will be open this Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Coming Soon: Night fishing starts May 21, 2010!
Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about trout fishing. Most importantly, the classes are FREE! Ranger Hugh will be the professor.

Lake Jennings Fish Report
Lake JenningsHello from your Lake Jennings! The trout fishing is the best of the year. Cactus Patch, Eagle Point and Shadow Cove produced limits. Trolling has been poor, but chucking silver Kastmasters in those spots have also been productive. The bass are definitely staging. A few are in shallow looking but not on nests. The majority of fish are being caught in 15' to 25' of water. Dropshoting and throwing Ikas. Greens, browns and morning dawn all have been effective colors. An interesting pattern showed for......
