Hello from your Lake Jennings! The trout fishing is the best of the year. Cactus Patch, Eagle Point and Shadow Cove produced limits. Trolling has been poor, but chucking silver Kastmasters in those spots have also been productive. The bass are definitely staging. A few are in shallow looking but not on nests. The majority of fish are being caught in 15' to 25' of water. Dropshoting and throwing Ikas. Greens, browns and morning dawn all have been effective colors. An interesting pattern showed for the cats earlier than normal. Bass anglers fishing the brush tight to the bank nailed some nice channel catfish.

Best Trout Spots: Cactus patch, Half Moon Cove and Sentry Points.
Best Trout Lures/Bait: Salmon peach Power Bait.
Best Catfish Spots: The dam buoyline.
Best Catfish Bait: Mackerel or nightcrawlers in the brush. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: The launch ramp.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Crawdads.

Notables: No fish over 3 lbs. or limits under 1 hour.
Prognosis: We will stock a 1,000 lb. load of Mt. Lassen's great (Sierra Bow) trout this Tuesday. March is typically the best month of the year for fishing. The March madness of fishing is a lot more fun than the basketball version. Don't miss it... and yes we will be at the Fred Hall Show at Del Mar. Come by and say hi.
Water Temperature: 61 degrees on the surface.
Current Schedule: Lake Jennings will be open this Friday and Saturday from 5:45 a.m. - 6:15 p.m and Sunday from 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.

FREE Fishing Classes Open to the Public!
Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about trout fishing. Most importantly, the classes are FREE! Ranger Hugh will be the professor.

Hello from your Lake Jennings! The trout fishing was greatly improved Friday. The same was true for Saturday for those who did not mind getting wet. Sunday, the bite remained good in all the standard places. It is a bait bite only. Trolling is marginal. Even though we have stopped filling the lake, the bass remain scattered and fussy... no one has seriously targeted the cats. Best Trout Spots: Cactus patch, Half Moon Cove and Sentry Points. Best Trout Lures/Bait: Salmon peach Power Bait. Best Catfish Spots:...... Read More
