Stocking: The lake was stocked with 1,500 pounds of Rainbow Trout this week. This is the LAST stocking of Rainbow Trout until next season. Catfish Opener is Memorial Day weekend where 1,500 pounds of catfish from Alpine Fishery will be stocked.

What’s the Catch? Trout fishing remains fair to good, particularly early and late in the day.

Trout are still catchable but becoming more location-specific. As expected this time of year, fish are starting to transition deeper, but limits are still possible with the right approach. The best spots include deeper water, points, and shaded shorelines. Powerbait, inflated nightcrawlers, and mini jigs are producing. Expect to find holdover trout into May.

Panfish are starting to turn on with warming water temps. Expect to find Bluegill moving into the shallows and becoming more active. Crappie and Redear are showing up in small schools near structure, submerged brush, and docks. The best baits are wax worms, meal worms, pieces of red worms, and small jigs under a bobber. Midday when the sun warms the shallows is the ideal time of day to catch panfish.

Conditions: With the aerator turned on, the temperature is less stratified in the water column. Cool, cloudy days will bring trout to the shallows. The lake draw should conclude this week. The sun is rising at 6:02 a.m. and setting at 7:29 p.m
