Stocking: The lake was stocked this week with 1,500 pounds of rainbows from Wright's Rainbows in Idaho last week. Another 1,500 pounds of trout will be stocked this week for back-to-back stockings. That's 3,000 pounds in two weeks! So far this season, 15,000 pounds of trout have been stocked from Idaho and 2,200 pounds from DFW.

What's the catch?  The bass boats with sonar have said that the trout are deep about 20-30 feet. Anglers fishing from the shoreline didn't have much luck with the stock this weekend. If you don't have a boat try fishing from the t-dock. The depth at the end of the t-dock is about 60 feet or so. Reports were powerbait (especially corn) was the bait of choice for the stock. The bass bite was active this weekend as well. They were biting in Cloister and Shadow Coves on Senkos and shiners. Panfish were biting on meal worms this weekend. Our rangers recommend fishing for Bluegill and Redear no more than 20 feet from shore. The bite in Half Moon Cove is always reliable. No reports of catfish this weekend, but we expect the catfish bite to pick up when we extend our lake hours to 7:00 p.m. this weekend.

Conditions: The lake is full and the water is well oxygenated throughout the water column with the temperature being 57 degrees. Ideal conditions for trout! The sun is rising at 6:17 a.m. and setting at 5:45 p.m. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
