Hello from your Lake Jennings! Do you like being humbled by largemouth bass????? Then Lake Jennings is your lake. Most basses had a hard time throwing the skunk out of the boat. The few that caught fish indicated that there was no clear pattern. Dynamite worked best but in keeping with our mantra of being a quiet and peaceful lake the dynamiters were told to stop! The cat bite continues to be sporadic with more fish being caught deep. One boater reported that his catch of three cats came from 117 ft of water. Worms continue to be the top choice.

Best Catfish Spots: The dam buoyline and Hermit Cove.
Best Catfish Bait: Night crawlers. Use scent liberally.

Best Bass Spots: Leadcore trolling 5 colors or on the points with 4" worms or jigs.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: #7 shad rap at 50 ft.

Notables: No fish over 3 lbs or limits under 1 hour.

Prognosis: Remember that we do not open until 5 PM on Friday. The delightfully cool nights help ameliorate the pain when there is nothing on the stringer. This can't last.

Water Temperature: Still 78 to 79 degrees on surface.

Current Schedule: We'll be open this Friday from 5:00 p.m. - Midnight, Saturday from 5:30 a.m. - Midnight, and Sunday from 5:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Upcoming Holiday: Remember, we'll be open on Labor Day (Monday, September 7th)!

FREE Fishing Classes Open to the Public!

Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about cat fishing. Most importantly, the classes are FREE! Ranger Hugh will be the professor.

Hello from Your Lake Jennings: The Summer doldrums continues to frustrate us and our anglers. The bite for cats got worse even though there was 1000 lbs of cats were planted Friday morning. Sunday morning around 8:30 there was a decent bite back in Hermit Cove but only if you had crawlers. The bass continue to be difficult and if topwater is your thing fugetaboutit. Fishing deep or trolling leadcore. This should change when we start dropping the water level. That...... Read More
