Hello from Lake Jennings! After a hot bite for cats on Friday night we thought we were in for a great weekend of fishing. We were wrong. The rest of the weekend was a bust. The hottest spot was Hermit Cove. There were a lot of limits but all the fish were between 1 and 2 lbs. No biggies were reported. The bass bite was also lackluster. Both at the surface and deep. Average was 1 bass per rod.

Best Catfish Spots: Hermit Cove, and any of the coves in the brush. Use 20 lb test and horse them out of the cover.
Best Catfish Bait: Night crawlers and mackerel. Use scent liberally.

Best Bass Spots: Dropshotting Sentry and Eagle Points in 25 to 30 ft. Topwater at the bank.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Drop-shotting 4" worms. Frogs and Pop-R's.

Notables: Sat., 14-year-old Brandon Valenzuela, 1-8 Bluegill/Red Ear hybrid.

Prognosis: Remember that we do not open until 5 PM on Friday. We are open all day July 4th 5:30 AM until Midnight.

Water Temperature: Still 72 to 73 degrees on surface.

Current Schedule: We'll be open this Friday from 5:00 p.m. - Midnight, Saturday from 5:30 a.m. - Midnight, and Sunday from 5:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Hello from Lake Jennings! Friday and Saturday's fishing can be best called accidental. I heard "I was fishing for cats, and I caught a trout on mackerel." I heard "I was fishing for cats with crawlers, and I caught 3 red ears." I heard "I was trolling a Rapala, and I caught a bass, a channel cat and a huge red ear." Those were just a few of the reports that I heard. A few anglers using wax worms did successfully get on a red...... Read More
