Hello from Your Lake Jennings: Friday and Saturday's fishing can be best called accidental. I heard " I was fishing for cats and I caught a trout on mackerel." I heard " I was fishing for cats with crawlers and I caught 3 red ears." I heard " I was trolling a Rapala and I caught a bass, a channel cat and a huge red ear." Those were just a few of the reports that I heard. A few anglers using waxworms did successfully get on a red ear bite but would not divulge the spot. The surface shad bite has been mostly NOT!

Best Cat Spots: Bird trees, Hermit Cove, and any of the coves in the brush. Use 20 lb test and horse them out of the cover.
Best Cat Bait: Night crawlers and mackerel. Use scent liberally.

Best Bass Spots: Dropshotting Sentry and Eagle Points in 25 to 30 ft. Topwater at the bank
Best Bass Lures /bait: Dropshotting 4" worms. Frogs and Pop-R's.

Water Temp. Still 71 to 72 degrees on surface.

Notables: No fish over 3 lbs. reported.

Prognosis: Remember that we do not open until 5 PM on Friday. Another 1000 lbs of Rock and Fish Ranch channel cats will be stocked Friday. The weather is forecasted to warm up to mid 80's this week. Hopefully this will get the fish on a bite.

The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching cat fishing......

One morning the bass are chasing shad all over the surface, and then they disappear for several days. Best Catfish Spots: Bird trees, Hermit Cove, and any of...... Read More
