The San Diego out of Seaforth Landing in San Diego, CA checked in with us today.

Over the past couple days we have seen a decrease in the amount of yellowtail on the kelps. The reason for this we assume has been the presence of very large bluefin tuna in the area. Capt Matt and myself have been reluctant to fish for these fish for the simple fact that most of our customers do not own the tackle required to land one of these amazing animals. With that being said, today Capt Matt was put in a situation where he could either keep looking for yellowtail even though he was skunked at 11:00 after trying numerous kelps. Or he could put up the boats kite gear and try to show the customers something they had most likely never seen before. Like he does everyday, Capt. Matt made the correct decision and has just landed a bluefin tuna that taped out over 200 lbs. Our game plan moving forward is to fish for whatever is available on that given day. If you own a 2 speed reel with heavy line, you may want to bring it with you.
