Hello from Lake Jennings! Fishing was so good this weekend even blind squirrels got nuts. The trout bite was excellent from Hermit Cove to Eagle Point. Long leaders, short leaders, any color Power Bait or Night crawlers put trout in the frying pan. Male bass are bedding everywhere but the big girls are being shy. Only small (1 to 2 lb.) catfish are being caught at the buoyline. It is time to start exploring the shallows for those prespawn cats.

Best Trout Spots: Half Moon Cove and Cactus Patch.
Best Trout Lures/Bait: Inflated crawlers on a 2 ft. leader dipped in scent.

Best Catfish Spots: No Place
Best Catfish Bait: Night crawlers and mackerel. Use scent liberally.

Best Bass Spots: Every 15 ft. along the shore.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: It is jig time using creature baits. Swimbaits have not been working.

Notables: Lots of quick trout limits by anglers who don't want the word to get out.

Prognosis: Mt. Lassen will deliver another 1000 lbs of trout on Tuesday. The flood gates are open. It will be awhile before the fishing success slows. Next up: the channel catfish.

Water Temperature: 60 to 63 degrees on surface.

Current Schedule: We will be open this Friday and Saturday from 5:45 A.M - 6:15 P.M and Sunday from 6:30 A.M - 7:30 P.M.

FREE Fishing Classes Open to the Public

Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 P.M. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about bait fishing for trout. Most importantly, the classes are FREE! Ranger Hugh will be the professor.

For Immediate Catch and Release Hello from Your Lake Jennings: We were convinced that the bass AND trout were absolutely going to eat everything that we could throw. Best Trout Lures / Bait: Inflated crawlers on a 2 ft. leader dipped in scent....... Read More
