Hello from Your Lake Jennings:
We were convinced that the bass AND trout were absolutely going to eat everything that we could throw. Instead they only ate stuff that we didn't throw. There is a decent afternoon cat bite out in 140 ft. of water. All pan sized.
Best Trout Spots:
Half Moon Cove and Cactus Patch.
Best Trout Lures / Bait:
Inflated crawlers on a 2 ft. leader dipped in scent.
Best Cat Spots:
The dam buoyline.
Best Cat Bait:
Night crawlers and mackerel. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots:
Off the points dropshotting in 25 to 35 ft. water. The weekend should find the bass on the south facing banks in the afternoons.
Best Bass Lures /bait:
It is jig time using creature baits. Swimbaits have not been working
Notables: No fish over 3 lbs or limits under 1 hour.
Prognosis:
Mt. Lassen will deliver another 1000 lbs of trout on Tuesday. We said it before and were wrong, but if we say it long enough we will be right eventually! The bass may very well bust loose with the warming water this weekend.
The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching bait fishing for trout at 1 PM on Sunday.

Lake JenningsLake Jennings Weekly Catch and Release February 17, 2009 Hello from Lake Jennings! The good trout bite got better. Lots of limits on both crawlers and Gulp. The key was short leaders 2 ft. or less. Trolling deep in 30 ft. of water is also producing trout with Rapalas and Kastmasters. The bass are finally starting to chew. Dropshotting 4" worms uphill which means the bankies are doing better than the boaters. The big girls still...... Read More
