Hello from Your Lake Jennings: The good trout bite got better. Lots of limits on both crawlers and Gulp. The key was short leaders 2 ft. or less. Trolling deep in 30 ft. of water is also producing trout with Rapalas and Kastmasters. The bass are finally starting to chew. Dropshotting 4" worms uphill which means the bankies are doing better than the boaters. The big girls still have lockjaw. Cats are biting very well at the buoyline after 2 PM. They should be biting back in Hermit Cove in the muddy water but nobody is fishing them.
Best Trout Spots: Shadow and Half Moon Cove and Cactus Patch.
Best Trout Lures / Bait: Inflated crawlers on a 2 ft. leader dipped in scent.
Best Cat Spots: The dam buoyline and anywhere there is muddy water in the coves.
Best Cat Bait: Night crawlers and mackerel. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: Off the points dropshotting in 25 to 35 ft. water. The weekend should find the bass on the south facing banks in the afternoons.
Best Bass Lures /bait: It is jig time using creature baits. Swimbaits have not been working
Water Temp. 60 to 61 degrees on surface.
Notables: No fish over 3 lbs or limits under 1 hour.
Prognosis: Mt. Lassen will deliver another 1000 lbs of trout on Tuesday. The weather will remain unsettled until midweek. So it should remain good for the cats and trout. The bass may very well bust loose with the warming water this weekend.
The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching bait fishing for trout at 1 PM on Sunday.

Lake Jennings Report
Lake JenningsFor Immediate Catch and Release Hello from Your Lake Jennings: There was a big improvement in the trout dept. Boaters in Half Moon and Shadow Coves caught limits and Sunday morning Eagle Point on the Eagle Cove side also produced lots of limits. Big bass are being seen in 15 to 20 ft of water in the afternoons but they must be eating super glue because their mouths are shut tight. The rains have muddied the water in the...... Read More
Lake Jennings Fish Report
Lake JenningsHello from Lake Jennings! The big question is: Why aren't the bass moving up into the shallows? The water is 60 to 61. The days are sunny and it is the beginning of February! There has been a very good afternoon cat bite at the buoyline but if you fish before 2 PM make sure you bring either a pillow or a book because not much happens before then. The trout are close to the bottom. The key is leaders that are 2ft. or less. Best...... Read More
